[Hong Kong] MTR Corporation introduces the MTR Metaverse on The Sandbox with the launch of their first two NFT releases on 20 Dec and 18 Jan respectively. Their inaugural NFT, themed “Time-travel: 1990s – FUTURE”, is inspired by MTR tickets issued during the 1990s, as well as metaverse themed tickets representing the future, along with different rarities set for varied collectible value. 500 participants were whitelisted in the MTR discord channels after fulfilling several quests successfully and received the initial release for free, and will get a chance to unlock future exclusive experiences in their Web3 world.
The second NFT themed “Year of Rabbit Ticket Set Series NFT”, is designed to coincide the launch of their physical tickets with Chinese traditional year of the Rabbit designs. The NFTs featured calligraphy done by their former architect Abe Au Kit Tong, and illustrations which turned the Chinese character “rabbit” into a rabbit is done by a local artist Bonnie Pang. The background and frame of each NFT is matched with a Chinese New Year motif, so that each NFT is unique and increases its collectability. 388 NFTs were created for sale on 4 Jan on the MTR e-Store. Both sets of NFTs were minted on the Polygon Chain.
