[Hong Kong] Obtaining successful marketing results, the mobile app HSBC: 150 Years in HK was awarded a Bronze in Best Mobile Apps (Marketing Campaign) at HKICT Awards 2016.
To mark the 150th anniversary, HSBC issued a commemorative HKD150 banknote together with a mobile app to deliver pioneering Augmented Reality (AR) experience triggered by banknote images. It brings the new note to life and celebrates 150 years shared ambition for the Bank and the people in Hong Kong, extending the canvas of a small banknote to tell the story of the Bank’s development from a local merchant bank to an international leading financial services provider whist the city grew from a small trading port to an international financial centre. The app also showcases 3D simulating models of the four generations of the Bank headquarters for 360 degrees viewing as well as decodes the unique design elements and major security innovations. It helps to bring even higher collectible value to the commemorative banknote, plus an extraordinary user experience for brand engagement.
